rode yesterday with eric for the first time since he blew his tire out last year. was a good ride and i think i pushed it a little too far while i was climbing. hadnt ridden since the sunday and i felt it the whole time. total ride was around 35 miles.

today did a fast ride to staceys house and then hung out for a half hour or so and rode back. felt sore and tired but overall better than yesterday. hopefully it wont give me a hangover for a ride i plan on doing tomorrow with eric and a group of guys from westfield area. taking a week off soon may be something i need to do but continuing to ride feels like what i should do. todays ride;

have done a ton of riding that hasnt been posted about.

-did a ride up zion twice and kept it on the big chainring for the first time. then turned around and went up again.

-took 13 seconds off my time trial time a few days later bringing the total time to 19:10.

-did a ride with mike, ed, and pete who rides with century. each of us had different totals, petes being the highest. rode out to round valley and around. ended up at 68 miles.

-today meet up with mike and ed and did a light ride around the area. no climbs just more of a recovery ride. 25 miles.

so now my total odometer is at 1035 miles. passed 1000 on the 22nd.

have done a few rides. thursday rode with the century club for the their road race. got placed in a C+ group which at first thought i didnt belong. the beginning pace was fast but my legs and lungs settled in and the rest of the ride went well. even got complimented by a fellow rider while we were waiting for the train to pass (which screwed the whole race up). didnt try to sprint out the finish after my second crash scare. road through a small pile of wet brush and the bike nearly went sideways while hydroplaning. first close call was when my front wheel touched with another riders back. guess i was lucky.

today did the princeton tour de cure. what was listed as a metric century, 62.3 miles, actually was 65 miles. at the last minute mike signed up for it which was great so i wouldnt be riding alone. got out with the front group and just hung back for the most part. even though it wasnt a race it felt good to ride with the top riders in such a long distance event. mike was convinced we would blow the rest of the group up eventually once climbs became more and more. this was partly true. most of the riders fell off our pace. after 40 miles there was only 4 of us in the group. out of a total of about 50-75 riders. kept on moving and then it was just one other rider and me. with about 10 miles left i decided to fall back to finish with mike. after he came up he convinced me otherwise. "what are you doing? i know my way to the end, go catch that guy and crush his heart!" this is why having a riding partner is great. they push you to go past what your intentions are. i clicked into a hig gear and flew back to the other rider (who was also riding a scott). he hung with me for a few miles and then in the last 5 my legs felt even stronger. so i finished first in a ride that wasnt a race :) it felt good though. last year i think this ride would have been much much harder than it was today.

dont have thursdays numbers but todays ride;

took the longest ive done in one sitting today. proof that the metric century on the 16th shouldnt be too big of a deal. even though it will take its toll on me and ill need to be focused the ride should be good. this ride ended up taking me through hopewell and down a bunch of rodes ive yet to travel. going out like this with no one else is a rarity for me. my diet on the bike consisted of 4 clif shots, 1 banana, a double shot, a 32 ounce gatorade, and 2 bottles of water. the whole ride i felt good. my legs felt like they were getting the right amount of energy while my stomach didnt feel like it was getting weighed down by too much food/liquid. all this in prep for a century. ride;

rode in my first time trial yesterday. felt good after riding out there and doing a slow lap before riding the course for real. although i felt good there is still room for improvement. dropping a few pounds and training harder will definitely lead to hitting my goal for this year. so my time, 19:23. better than my best time last year by more than 30 seconds i believe. proves that riding in the winter will give you strength in the summer. bet going to the y helped as well. in total my miles for yesterday were around 30.

today after getting home from work i changed right away and headed out knowing exactly where i was headed. zion rd! did a climb then a climb up long hill rd after that. legs felt sore but overall were good after warming up. almost hit 50mph going down zion which was crazy. taking a spill at that speed could be fatal which makes me wonder why i dont hold the brakes on the way down. guess it is just the same thrill as being on a roller coaster. who knows. ride;
