a couple small rides the past 2 days. first, yesterday while trying to do a self time trial on my 'short course' a bee flew into my helmet and proceeded to sting me multiple times. after the squirrel incident it feels like animals are throwing themselves into me.

then today i took another try at the short course. warmed up for one loop then had at it. felt somewhat tired legs from the previous day but kept with it. the loop went well and i finished in 11:58. not sure what my average was due to not resetting the odometer after my warm up but its probably in the 22-24 mph range.

took off to work then and squeezed through a parking lot full of highschoolers leaving school for the day. had to keep going or i wouldnt have a fast time! :)

dont know overall miles for the day but it was probably in the 20 range.

monthly mile mark:632

lots of riding, scenes of death, reset odometers, and overall insanity today.

right off the bat when i woke up my idea was to climb. took alot to get motivated but coffee worked after a while. getting set up to head out my odometer was reading in a different language so i went to change the setting. woops... i reset the damn thing. looking at it the other day was in my mind so the numbers put back in after noticing it should be pretty accurate.

after climbing zion and feeling somewhat winded my mind snapped and decided to take over in place of my legs today. up zion, down long hill, up long hill, down zion, up zion, down long.....BAM!!!!

i ran over and killed a fucking squirrel!!! somehow no damage was done to me or the bike while going over 30mph. i felt bad about it. after hitting it (leonard he came to be named) i turned around and headed back up to see if there was anything that could be done. it sucked. leonard laid flat struggling to breath. couldnt watch so hopped back on and rode away.

back to the ride...
finished going down long hill. rode out to lindbergh rd. stopped at the corner store and headed up lindbergh. then i become psychotic. swithing into high gear i started to grind out the small sharp climbs on longhill. eventually i started talking to myself out load and was witness saying, "this is insanity". :)

got home, ate, hung out. and am now preparing for tomorrow. ride;

i wanted to ride today but things with mike fell through and my motivation was not there. oh well.

got out with mike and ed today. tough waking up this morning and i had second thoughts about going out. didnt sleep well last night for some reason. got out and did a ride i normally do by myself around the roads here. met them out on 601 then headed back. got my first flat on our way back right around the sourlands :( changed it up then continued around and then climbed zion rd. at the top we parted ways after talking for a few minutes about past rides, future rides, and funny experiences on a bike for about 15 minutes. got home and then off to work i went. took the odometer to me on the work ride as well. ride;

another ride of about an hour and a half today. very windy which sucked, and blew :) anyway. just rode into princeton and back. realized how it wasnt very hard though on my way back. stronger legs maybe? only thing significant about this ride was my water cage broke on my way back. how that happened i have no idea! stopped in a shop to hopefully get one for $5 which was all i had on me. sorry, our least expensive is $10!!!! crap. i took a free water bottle while i was there though :D ride;

took some time for me to go out today. ended the 'work week' and legs were heavy and slightly tired. eventually after sitting around for a while i headed out. didnt have an exact course but ended up going to dutchtown-zion rd. this rd seem slightly harder than zion rd. i cant put my finger on it but it just feels like my lungs and legs are burning much more at the top than at the top of zion. who knows :)

going with a new idea of standing while climbing my legs and lungs got wrecked on this climb! eventually they recovered and the ride became very fast. i was very happy with the way this ride went. overall it feels like my strength is more than this time last year.

so the weekend is open for me aside from a wedding tomorrow. hopefully my legs recover quickly and more miles are in store. ride;

went out to ride after being stuck at work on a nearly perfect day. after quickly pedaling home i got changed and headed out with ideas of climbing zion rd. instead i rode around and though about riding the time trial course for the crca. decided instead to head down through neshanic and climb up long hill rd. long hill was a bit of a task staying seated the entire time. helped me to keep in mind that i had the great decent down zion coming.

after blazing down zion something in me snapped and i did something never before done. i turned around and headed right back up zion! this proved to be a very good move. standing nearly the whole way up it gave me an idea of how i may attack warrenville rd when trying to climb it. after getting to the top my lung were not as burnt out and my legs werent as tired either. one thing that was sore were my thumbs! the constant pressure of my upper body being supported by them on the handlebars gave me a new soreness never experienced before.

so now my plan to attack warrenville road is taking shape. soon ill have to find a new mountain to climb after that. :) ride;

very good ride today. started out on the cold side and didnt warm up much but it was good. started early and went down to lambertville with mike and another rider, ed. took turns during straights ina pace line and then rode side by side in climbs and country roads. once we got to lambertville stopped at a local cafe for coffee and a small break. after that headed back and had some decent hills. more long steady climbs rather than intense grades. still had to put some effort in.

then an explosion from my double espresso happened. my legs felt rejuvenated as we came into more short steeper climbs and i blasted up them. felt strong. the way back we experienced more head winds that put our concentration on riding rather than talking but we still had some good stories, especially after a car or two cut us off.

this was one of my best rides so far. after riding to chimney rock and playing a round of golf yesterday and then going down to lambertville today i accomplished to rides ive been wanting to do for over a year. once back at mikes car i told him that this was the best weekend i have had in a long time. ride;

went out yeterday before work for a quick ride. the weather was very nice, warm enough for shorts but still a small chill that had me wear a long sleeve under my jersey. ride was very uneventful, just spun around in some nice weather. decided that coming up with my own time trial route this year would be fun. go on it each month to see where i am from the month before. so thats the course i took. tried to make it voide of any lights but it does end up on route 206 for a short time so oh well. also has lights on raider blvd as well which are more in numbers that ones on 206. all depends on how i hit them.

the good time came on my ride home from work. on raider blvd, trying to get left over two lanes i encountered a wonderful driver. after he seemingly break checked me when i was going behind him i asked, "what the **** is your problem". to this he simply replied, "**** you a**hole". wonderfull! so i took it up the next level and stated, "i bet you **** your mother". mature, no. funny, yes.
