I'm Paul. I ride my bike to stay fit, enjoy the outdoors, and to stay sane. now i also race!
have two days off this and next week. hopefully the weather is nice and i can get out for some real miles.
wanted to go up zion mountain a new way this afternoon and chose spring hill road as my challange. on the way out there another cyclist passed me after dropping my clif shot. once back on the bike catching him was a must! caught up and drafted for 2 miles before he turned. i was payed a nice compliment though and went on my way to climb. after climbing springhill zion rd is still the bitch of the bunch to the top of the mountain. there was some good grade and nice turns but it didnt have the consistant grade that zion rd does. with that done i made my way to the top for my quick decent.
after being passed while climbing some more by another rider, i caught up to them as well and headed down the hill. was a great day for riding.

*passed 1800 miles today. 189 miles to go for 2000!
i rode solo for the first 10 miles then hooked up with another rider that was riding with other people for the first time. after chatting and riding along with him we caught up to another rider who knew who i was! he recognized me from century road club and so we all road togehter. we lost the first guy at a rest stop where we refilled our water.
no tour ride would be complete for me without getting a flat or getting lost. so i got lost this time :) took off 5 miles off course with mike(the century road club member). eventually we got back on track and we realized how many people we were in front of before hand! we spun through and finished 3rd and 4th in the entire tour! it wasnt a competition but wow! there were over 100 people there.
after hanging out for a while to drink some beer :) i got mikes number so we could ride again. he rides in the winter which is exactly the kind of rider ive been needing to meet.
took a new route up zion hill(or is it sourland moutain? who knows). it was no where near the grade of zion road but it still climbed here and there. the ride was nice though with a small brook running along side the road most of the way up. once up it the ride became the usual. longhill/zion rd. to be honest, some of these roads are boring me. i want to get out and climb new places, see new things, and all that stuff. maybe next summer my license will be re enstated so i can travel some. it works for now though.
hops to hops tour is less than 2 weeks away :)
